Congratulations Sister!!

I just had to take this moment to say just how proud I am of my sister Ernestine! She’s graduating today with her Bachelor of Science degree in Nursing! She’s been wanting to get that degree for a long time and she’s done it!

I am SOOOO proud of her! We have so many setbacks in life and it makes me so happy to know that they can be overcome!

Keep going Tiny! I love you! You deserve this day!! I wish I could have been there to share it with you!

Happy Birthday Marvin Washington!

You know I just had to take a minute to say Happy Birthday to the sweetest, most wonderful man I know!

Since meeting you Marvin, my life has changed! I fell in love with your smile and your kindness. I’m so glad that you are a part of my life!

I can’t wait for us to grow old together and sit in our rocking chairs on our porch…but first, we need to go RVing, own our own food truck and go on a Disney Cruise! You and I have alot of living to do!

I love you Marvin.

You mean the world to me.

Happy birthday baby!

Review: NY International Auto Show (with Pics)

My new job is coming right along. I’m still in training until Wednesday and then I’m on my own! With my new schedule I’m going to be working on Saturdays so I may have to rearrange some things in order to get out to see my festivals and such.

I was all set to go to the TX Earth Day celebration at Fair Park this past weekend, but I couldn’t make it. My allergies wouldn’t allow it. I spent the whole day in bed suffering!

But Marvin did get to go to the New York International Auto Show with his kids! Looks like a great time was had by all. I believe the next events I’m gearing up for is the City Arts Festival and the Joyce Meyer Conference; both in May. My work schedule is going to make it really difficult, but God knows.

Last but not least, let me share a few photos with you from Marvin’s day out at the NY International Auto Show!

Deep Ellum Arts Festival 2014: Review with pics!

Every year I plan to go to the Deep Ellum Arts Festival and I normally get there, but this year it didn’t look like it was going to happen. Thankfully a friend of mine made it possible for me to go and we had a wonderful time!

When we first got there, we entered off of Good Latimer and we weren’t alone. Tons of people rode the Green Line to the Deep Ellum Station for the festival. The day was very cloudy and even a little chilly, so I thought the crowd wouldn’t be as full as past years, but I was wrong!

People were out in the masses enjoying the festival even though it was drizzling and cold! My main reason for going is to get to check out the latest by David Pound at Twentyheads! What a talent!! I got to show my friend Bruce what Twentyheads is all about and he was amazed! I wanted to say hello to David, but his booth was full of clients buying and I wasn’t about to interrupt THAT! Go DAVID!!

Every time I go to an Arts Festival, I always leave feeling like I should be doing more. So much talent and hard work! I am always amazed at the art and I wish I could produce something just as beautiful! I guess everyone can’t be a great artist, but I bet it’s fun trying!!

I also got the chance to meet Sharon Spillar of Spillar Studios! I follow her artwork on FB and I get to see her at all of the major Dallas festivals! I introduced myself and shook her hand. Hi Sharon!!

Some other artists I dropped in on were:

Jean-Claude Louis

Elizabeth Dunlop

Add Libb Designs

Jay Long

Deep Ellum Outdoor Market 12/16: Let’s Go!

There is an interesting event coming up in the Dallas area that I thought I might mention.

I’m gonna be honest: I hate Winter.

And my not having a car makes me hate it even more! It’s hard for me to convince myself to get out and do alot in the cold! Lord, you know! But I thought I’d let you guys know about it so you can go and tell me all about it!

Deep Ellum Outdoor Market – Local products and food trucks galore!! (12/16)

In the past, I’ve really enjoyed the Deep Ellum Markets and the different Art Festivals around the area. When my son was little I used to take him with me all the time, but now that he’s 16 I can’t convince him! LOL

The festivals are where I get my most interesting photos! Going alone also really makes me miss having Marvin here though. We are hanging in there because we know that God brought us together for a reason!

Here is post from my last visit to the Deep Ellum Arts Festival earlier this year. I captured some works from some really great artist!

If I could make a living out of going to festivals and blogging that would be a dream come true!!

What other events are you looking forward to? 2014 is almost here!!

Deep Ellum Arts Festival 2013: Dallas

I had such a great time! It wasn’t great because it was exciting (not that it wasn’t)…it was great because it was so RELAXING.

Walking through the festival, looking at all of the wonderful works of art, tends to relax me and really make me thankful for all that God has given me.

It’s amazing how much talent so many people have! If you’ve never been to an arts festival, you are missing out! It’s not just paintings and drawings! You’re gonna be amazed!!

I got the wonderful opportunity to see and meet the creator of TwentyHeads, David Pound! What a great guy! If you have not seen his work, PLEASE  go by his site and check it out! I just wish that I could start a collection of his works because they are so original and captivating!! I could have stood there and studied them all day long! One day, I’m gonna have to start that collection!

Not only do I want a HEAD, but I also want a painting by Art By Tai! He is at every Art Festival I go to and I NEVER get tired of looking at his work!!! AMAZING! JUST the kind of art I would love to have covering my wall!!

We Sold Our First Piece of Art!!

I was just about to take a mid day nap on Friday when the phone rang…It was Shawn from Cafe Brazil (Deep Ellum location) calling to let me know that our art piece, MY NEW YORK, had been sold!!

He told me that a sweet, young couple came in for dinner on Valentine’s day and bought it! What a rush! I couldn’t wait to call Marvin and let him know! This is our first sale on one of our art pieces and I feel just like a proud mama!!

Our artwork hung there for maybe 2 months before it was sold and I am SO happy!! I’m so thankful that Cafe Brazil helps artists in the community by showing their work! I think that’s amazing!
